Inflammatory Diseases

Diseases caused by inflammation

Most people do not realize that the following conditions are caused or promoted by inflammation: aches and pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, acne, aging, syndrome X, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, stroke, Alzhemier’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and more.

This section of the website contains brief articles/descriptions of various diseases and also links to research papers that discuss the topic in more detail. You may be amazed when you see how much research has linked inflammation to disease.
Be aware that most diseases listed and discussed in this section of deflame.com will include specific nutritional interventions. This is because nutritional applications have not been applied to many diseases that are caused by inflammation. However, over time, more nutrition-inflammation-disease research will be done and deflame.com will alert you in the news section and via email alerts.

As a reader, you need to keep in mind that your nutritional state determines your “inflammatory” state or potential. Links to 4 articles can be found below, and each discusses how diet can promote inflammation and disease. Keep this information in mind…you will see that it applies to most diseases discussed at deflame.com.

Article 1 (pdf) is a review of how diet can promote inflammation and chronic disease. The nutritional focus is on omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, and how nutrition can influence free radical production. Several different diseases are mentioned including cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease and chronic pain. The author of this paper is also the author of deflame.com.

Article # 2 (pdf) focuses on omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. The author of this article is one of the most respected in this area of nutrition.

Article #3 (pdf) is authored by several experts and discusses how the diet of modern man causes inflammation or disease from several different perspectives, including glycemic load, fatty acid composition, macronutrient composition, micronutrient density, acid-base balance, sodium-potassium ratio, and fiber content.

Article #4 (pdf) is written by a group of British researchers. They use the term “polymeal” to discuss a diet that is estimated to reduce the expression of heart disease by 75%. This exact same diet can be applied to most if not all other diseases and is a dietary approach for promoting wellness.

Important Anti-inflammatory Educational Information

"Deflaming" is the term we coined to describe the process of inflammation reduction. We can deflame with both diet and supplements.

Click here for the Deflaming Guidelines, which will open as a PDF document that you can print. The Deflaming Guidelines provide the important details about how to reduce inflammation (deflame) with diet and nutritional supplements.

We also have an MP3 audio version of the Deflaming Guidelines available.
Part 1 describes deflaming with diet.
Part 2 describes deflaming with nutritional supplements.
